Whose your Sweetheart?

Share
Develop a “sweetheart” inside of yourself who whispers in your ear to encourage you. Let’s face it. You who have created the editor are also capable of creating the sweetheart, the kind of coach who thinks what you do is fine.

So many of us have the “editor” inside of us telling us what we should do differently or how we have come up short and chastising us for not being perfect. So let’s also create the “sweetheart” who loves you in spite of your faults, doesn’t necessarily see those faults as a problem, and maybe even finds them endearing! What would your sweetheart say to you if dinner burned? “Thanks for making dinner. I’m sorry it didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to.” “Relax for a bit and let me get some take-out!”

What would a sweetheart say if you didn’t get a promotion? “You must be really disappointed.” “I hope it works out better for you next time.” “I still love you even if your boss can’t see you were the best one for the job.”

What would your sweetheart say if you’re working on something that just isn’t working out? How about, “That’s so frustrating to put in all that effort and still not get the results you wanted.”

Don’t gang up on yourself!  Catch yourself when you start blaming and berating yourself. Create your own sweetheart and encourage yourself.

Money Saving Tip

saving money As summer approaches, some people will save money by swapping homes with another person or family for their vacation. Besides the rental fee, savings can also add up when guests take care of pets, water plants and gardens, provide sports equipment or passes to a swim club and leave information regarding shopping, the farmer’s market and the best place for pizza. Some people also use each other’s cars after making sure insurance will cover any accidents. Others prefer not to have guests use their cars. Do your research on the Web and check out potential guests and hosts before making a commitment. Be sure to remove and lock up any valuables, personal and financial information and access codes to investment and bank accounts just to protect yourself. By practicing a little caution you can have a great time and save a lot of money.
