A little simplification would be the first step toward rational living…
Eleanor Roosevelt

We tend to complicate our lives with stuff we don’t need and worry about things that we can’t control. We may dread life experiences that we are perfectly capable of handling because in our mind we blow them out of proportion by imaging ominous possibilities that are very unlikely to materialize.

What is one thing you can do today to simplify the way you think about life? Think of something you worry about and ask yourself if you can control the situation. If not, what can you do to minimize the potential problem? If there’s nothing you can do, make an effort to get so involved in something that leaves you no time to worry.

What is one thing you can do to simplify your life by changing some routines? Can you shop for a week or more so you don’t have to find time to stop at the store every day? Cook twice as much so you’ll have enough for a second meal? Pick one drawer or one shelf and clean it out? Get a container and put all your cleaning supplies in it so you can easily find what you need? Throw away those lipsticks that are the wrong color or are down to the last smear? Trash emails that you won’t answer or read? Unsubscribe yourself from web sites you don’t really care about? Take five minutes and commit to do just one thing to simplify your life today. It will give you a sense of accomplishment and you’ll have more energy, too!

Money Saving Tip

saving moneyUse glass or plastic containers to store food instead of paying for so many disposable plastic bags. Get rid of containers with no lids or that you don’t need. Replace them with stackable containers that require less space. Look for sets with interchangeable lids so that if one gets lost or ruined you can still use the container with another top.
